Free Creative Workshops Every Friday

Six Lips Theatre offer FREE creative workshops to the community! Are you a burgeoning writer, poet or playright? Or someone who just fancies trying something new. All abilities are welcome, and no experience is necessary. Improv Nights

Six Lips Theatre is launching an improvisation night! We are looking for actors, poets, bands, singers, dancers, musicians, comedians…all manner of performers to TAKE PART on 25 July and 26 September. These experimental nights are designed to push and challenge artists, whilst creating an exciting and unpredictable experience for audience members. House Of Tragic She Phase 2

Our proposed activity is commissioning a community-inspired full length play from a secret writer (ssshh). We will be applying for funding to support an extended research within the community, for the writing, development and presentation of a rehearsed reading to our partners. Because the play will have at its heart testimonies and real-life stories of people living in rural communities in the North of England, a large part of this activity will be spent building and developing relationships with those communities.   We have already delivered workshops with HOOT Creative Arts to feed into Tilling and will be starting a new project with young adults (16-25) in partnership with York Mind and supported by Arts Council England, exploring loneliness and isolation.  Influence from the participants will be woven into the existing performance structure that has toured to Rural Arts Fresh season, HOOT Creative Arts festival and a commissioned performance for The Centre for Global Education in York.  This production is now in its second phase of development in preparation for a rural tour in Autumn 2016.  We are excited to get on with integrating the work of our […]
